Black-footed ferrets are considered endangered. They were thought to be extinct until a few were found by Meetetse Wyoming. Since then there have been extensive efforts to reintroduce them across the west. They have been fairly successful in their reintroduction efforts. A black-footed ferret's primary food source is the prairie dog. That is why I named the ferret in the painting, Bounty the Dog Hunter.
