The Veteran

This elk is real, drop-tine and all. I witnessed this elk in Teton National Park. He didn’t sound overly large or gruff, but when we broke over the ridge and saw him, my jaw just dropped. This was a very old bull that has seen many autumns, navigated rivers, survived winters, bears, wolves, and escaped hunters while outside of the park. Seasoned veterans are exciting to see because laying your eyes on one doesn’t happen very often.
