Kamchatka

You may not know it, but there are big brown bears in Russia, too – on the Kamchatka Peninsula. I have seen their smaller version, the grizzly bear, here in Wyoming. Brown bears are no different than grizzlies except for their diet. Brown bears get large off the many fish they eat. They are moving trash compactors. Bears have a way of adding excitement to trips in the wilderness! A predator strong enough to take down a moose should be treated with respect. I sleep lightly in bear country.
